A call centre or call center is a centralised office used for receiving or transmitting a large volume of requests by telephone. An inbound call centre is operated by a company to administer incoming product support or information inquiries from consumers. The term is used decreasingly as the more modern term Contact Center is used to described customer service centers that process not only calls, but also other digital customer service channels like social media, web chat or discussion forums.
