SaaS stands for software as a service. This refers to a software distribution model in which software and apps are hosted by a service provider or vendor, and made available to customers over a network, typically the internet. This means the customer doesn’t buy the software, but buys the use of the software as a service. SaaS is sometimes referred to as software on demand. With the proliferation of the cloud, SaaS is likely to become the leading model for software distribution in the 21st century.
